NewsStocks.live

A financial news site that writes, illustrates, films and publishes itself

A newsroom with nobody in it: over a hundred articles a day, market analysis every day, week and month, and short videos for the social channels.

Problem

A news product normally needs a newsroom: writers, an editor, a designer, a social team. I wanted to see how far one engineer and a pipeline could go instead.

What I built

  • A cron pipeline that pulls S&P 500 news and writes per-article summaries plus a daily market analysis: direction, confidence, drivers, risks, sector outlooks, strategy.
  • Illustrations through a Pexels to DALL·E pipeline into Cloudinary.
  • Short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, about 30 posts a day on Telegram, and automatic replies in some channels.
  • Around the news: market games, quizzes, weekly and monthly analytics.
  • Admin dashboard, role-based auth, PIPEDA and CASL compliance.

How it works

Next.js front end with structured data, sitemaps and fast pages, so search engines treat it as a real publication. GPT-4o-mini writes, cron pipelines schedule, Cloudinary serves media, a Telegram bot broadcasts. New videos now include short animated pieces.

Screens

The daily market analysis: direction, drivers, risks and sector outlooks.
The home page on a phone.
An article: summary, our take, key numbers and related news.
The S&P 500 heatmap, one of the extras around the news.

Results

Live since February 2026 and still growing: several deploys a month with new or improved features, and a desktop PageSpeed score of 92.

My role

Everything: product, design, code, pipelines and operations.
